Frequently Asked Questions
What if it’s been a while since I visited the dentist?
That’s ok! Just don’t wait another day to schedule an appointment at The Smilist Dental Medford. We promise to provide gentle, thorough care — and we’ll never judge you for letting your dental care slip!
What should I do if my gums bleed when I brush?
Schedule an appointment at our office right away. Bleeding gums are one of the biggest indications of gum disease, and the earlier we treat periodontal conditions, the better for your oral and overall health.
Do you provide adult braces?
Yes! We are pleased to offer patients Invisalign, clear braces that straighten out teeth using a series of clear plastic aligners. The trays are removable, so you can eat what you like and brush and floss your teeth as normal throughout treatment.
Am I eligible for dental implants?
If your tooth loss is recent and you are in adequate oral and overall health, chances are good that you can benefit from dental implants. Schedule an appointment at our office to find out for sure.
What’s the difference between whitestrips and professional teeth whitening?
Our Boost in-office whitening reveals results far brighter and more effective than you could hope to achieve with whitestrips or other over-the-counter whitening treatments. Professional-grade whitening erases even the most severe stains, and the treatment is customized to the dimensions of your unique smile.
Will this toothache go away?
Healthy teeth don’t ache. If you have a persistent toothache or pain, contact our office right away. It’s possible that decay has reached the interior of the tooth, or the pulp. You may need a root canal.
How does a dentist treat sleep apnea?
As your dentist, we are concerned with your teeth and all surrounding oral structures. Obstructive sleep apnea is caused when the soft tissues obstruct the proper flow of air through the lungs and to the brain. With a custom-fitted oral appliance that you wear during sleep, we reposition the lower jaw to help you breathe and rest easy throughout the night.
